3dom is more than the standard jazz guitar trio. Their set blends the much loved mainstream jazz guitar sound of Jim Hall and Joe Pass with the acoustic Latin of Jobim and Gilberto and the rock and blues flavours of Santana and George Benson.
Guitarist Dave Reay and drummer John Willis have appeared at Soho’s Pizza Express jazz club, and Neil Francis has recorded and toured the US as bassist with the critically acclaimed David Rees-Williams trio. Based in south-east England, they have all toured in the UK and Europe.
A guitarist who employs a unique combination of fingerstyle and plectrum techniques on acoustic and electric guitars, a drummer who moves effortlessly between full drum kit, percussion and cajon and a bass player who is equally a master of fretless and standard bass guitar guarantee plenty of value in this little outfit.
But 3dom isn’t only about three versatile musicians playing three styles of music; it’s about the listening relationship that gives each player his due and brings unity and freshness to their sound.
